    Exclamation Blocking Ports

    I dint knwo where to up this so i thought here was a good place to start

    my question is possable for me to mannualy close ports or do i need something like sygate to close ports off ????

    Well... I'd prefer to use a firewall or some sort of thing like that. I personally like building firewalls in VisualBasic that allow the user to custom block certain ports. if you'd like to learn more about it and possibly download it, PM me.

    If you were looking for a separate firewall box, rather than using a software firewall on your workstation box, which will slow it down slightly, there are many options. You can buy firewalls from network hardware suppliers such as Cisco, or you can set up an old computer as a linuux firewall eitherusing your own customised linux, or using a linux firewall distribution such as SmoothWall (www.smoothwall.org)

    ok now how would i do that i have lunix and all but ????? i use a 56k can i really go throght my old comp to do that ?
