Video card problem on Free BSD 4.7

I've just helping my friend installed Free BSD 4.7 on his laptop but unfortunately he have problem after installation ( damn..I'm on holiday at the moment...I have to think of his problem ), here is the problem,he have video card "vesa driver(generic)" and unfortunately in "free BSD video card list" during installation not showing of that video card, so he choose "VGA 16''( cause he think that VGA will fit with that "vesa driver generic"..we know that video card is sensitif cases for any installation of *Nix distro..but we don't have choice..so we decided to try).

Instalation went ok for his free BSD except "X configuration":
    here is the problem:

    After command # startx

    (--) VGA 16:PCI:trident unknown chipset (0x8820)rev 130,Memory @ 0xfc 000000,oxfbc 0000, MMI0@ oxf 7ff8000
    (**)VGA 16: chipset: generic
    (**)VGA 16:video ram:163849using 16384K)
    (**)VGA 16:clocks : 28,32 28,32 28,32 28,32
    (--)VGA16: maximum allowed dot-clock:90.000Mhz
(--)VGA16: Thereis no mode definition named "640x480"
(--)VGA16:Removing mode "640x480" from list of valid mode
(--)VGA16:Thereis no mode definition named "320x240"
    fatal server error
    no valid modes found

    X connection to:0.0 broken

We tried to search the problem through Google with no luck..
Any one have some problem before..??

try using xf86config to maualy select the vidio stuff..
if you have the laptops manual that should help, in most cases you can run it 1024x768 24 bit without a problem..

if you don't have the manual check out the product info on the web..

have you tried lspci to find the video card in the laptop ? ?

does anyone know if frame buffer video is supported in FreeBSD, I use framebuffer on laptops tat do not wish to cooperate, it's a bit slower but works like 99% of the time..

    I solved that problem already..
    this is what I've done
log in as root and typed superprobe
and then configure XF86 back to manually and thenn I answered every question in that configuration...as default(just pressed enter)....and walahhhhhhhh..... that's it I've got it.

hopelly this problem helps some one who install free BSD
