Well, This site is frequently visited by .gov officials in cybersecurity, because they too want to learn the latest techniques. Hacking is an illegal activity if done the wrong way, and it serves a hacker right to get caught and be persecuted. So, in short, this site is here to help people understand vulnerabilities in their own systems, including system admins securing work place servers etc. Its what you do with that knowledge that sets you apart from the others out there.

That is so stupid.... Most of the peaple come hear to learn something and when one or two of these peaple turn out to be a fed then everyone gets mad. What you must remember are that s.kiddies brag in sites to the point where it becomes evedence agianst them in a court room.

I mean.... Whats the defference between fed.s investigateing a bank robbery which may have been organized by some mob boss to the fed.s doing investigation at some CON because someone there may be responsable for e-banks and tradeing sites' robberies.

Personally I think they could sometimes go easy a little and protect our freedom of speech and privacy a bit more but atleast they are doing some things about it rather than be sitting ducks/clueless.

Alot of these greyhat sites out there give info that goes out to everyone from admin., feds, pirates, s.kiddies so why would anyone bother whineing about this one site?

    BTW nice avatar, Sweet_Angel.

I always take what I read on SNP with a large grain of salt, but what I thought was interesting with this post was their statement

in short the visitors to that web site are being monitored
In a 30 second time period the following information was displayed on the opening page of the SNP site

There are 767 visitors online. The last visitor from the Congo was online for 28 minutes

There are 767 visitors online. The last visitor from Sweden was online for 48 minutes

There are 776 visitors online. The last visitor from Sao-Tome-and-Principe was online for 38 minutes

There are 774 visitors online. The last visitor from Latvia was online for 14 minutes

There are 767 visitors online. The last visitor from the USA was online for 16 minutes
hmmm in short the visitors to the SecurityNewsPortal site are being monitored...
If you receive something that says \'Send this to everyone you know,\' pretend you don\'t know me.

I would have to agree with magnoon. I remember posting that 'Hackers planning to pop AntiOnline's balloon' from SNP. I was thinking 'oh well, they're just trying to say what could conceivably happen'. But from reading other articles it's obvious that SNP is very anti-AO, with articles such as this one. Also, this article about the job opportunity is pretty speculative and subjective.

I wouldn't take something like this too seriously (not anymore, anyway ). This site is great for learning stuff (especially of late) and it should just keep getting better. I don't think anyone's going to drop this site just because of some worthless article.

Even if this site were being monitored the way the article implies, and I do mean IF, an individual member that is learning from this site and not doing anything illegal would have nothing to worry about. Anyone doing anything illegal as far as hacking goes, should be caught, just the same as if someone was breaking into people's houses physically. Absolutely nothing wrong with being caught if doing something wrong.

It is sad that some people have nothing better to do than to try to slander someone. Sour grapes will always occur when other's are jealous of what the other party has achieved.

I personally don't have any time to spend worrying what others think about AO. I couldn't care less if someone monitors my posts, I am here to learn how to protect myself in cyberspace and nothing else, so I have nothing to worry about. These are public forums after all.

Hmmmm....we live in paranoid times, an age where cyber-sleuthing exists at a level that 20 years ago was unimaginable. There are hackers, crackers and kiddies running RAMPANT on the internet, so it should come as no surprise that sites that deal with security and exploitations would be scrutinized by government officials. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a file somewhere that details if I wad or fold my toilet paper...it's part of the risk we all undertake when we come online, an electronic fact of life. I'm not saying it's right, nor am I condemning the practice. I am merely saying that it IS...I knew that when I joined this community, and given that I don't have anything to hide I have no problem with it. What I do have a problem with is other sites and organizations making an issue out of a practice that they themselves partake in. To quote the Bible, "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone."

NOTE TO JP: Please don't sell any info on me to pr0n sites....if I see another spam involving viagra or farm animals I'm gonna puke.

It isn't paranoia when you KNOW they're out to get you...

JP provided them to spy on its users, note their comments, identify who they really were and to do clinical behavioral studies on the 'minds of the hacker underground'.
Yet another person that need to be told that this isn't a hacking site. I would doubt that we have many super hackers around there that the FBI would be interested in. I have encountered a fair number of people on other sites that feel that JP is a sell out who helps put hackers in jail. Personally I don't have a problem with putting hackers in jail.
Its not software piracy. Iím just making multiple off site backups.

You guys have good point here and cwk9 is definitly right this is not hacking site....it maybe those people/kiddo ... whoever..whatever..they are... think this site is hacking site and after they find out this site is security site(not teaching people how to break someone email..etc.), they bit dissapointed...so they trying to make a bad image of AO.
For me AO definitly as good site.. I feel better be good guys/girls ...... then a bad person and could be end up in jail.

LoL to allen..... NOTE TO JP: Please don't sell any info on me to pr0n sites....if I see another spam involving viagra or farm animals I'm gonna puke.
