So can I assume that you are inferring that the rest of us just don't measure up because we are not from India?

Oh, you left out the part about Indians (as evidenced above) having the biggest egos on the planet too. And let's not forget that India is also a world leader in child slave labor. Why didn't you brag about that?

If you're gonna rub the bright spots in the rest of the world's collective face, you might as well face the dark side too, because every country has one...mine as well as yours.

Muhammad ibn Musa abu Abdallah al-Khorezmi al-Madjusi al-Qutrubulli was born about 810AD in Khorezm (now Uzbekistan)

ten works of Al-Khorezmi's are known today. these include Kitab az-zij al-sindhind a set of astronomical tables including the first sine and cotangent tables. Kitab hisab al-'adad al-hindi an arithmetic text. and Kitab al-muhtasar fi hisab al-gabr w'al-muqabalah a compact text on the solution of equations.

The third book Latinised as Ludus algebrae et almucgrabalaeque gave us the word algebra.
The second, Latinised as Algorithmi de numero Indorum, brought the Hindu-Arabic number system to Europe. That is the base 10 number system with a symbol for zero and nine others whose values depend on their position. in medieval times, arithmetic was identified with his name, rendered as Algorismus

Al-Khorezmi's text on artihmetic included all the basic arithmetical processes by which numbers could be added, subtracted, doubled, halved, multiplied, divided and their square roots extracted. Today his name lives on as the description of any clear and precise procedeure for solving a given problem: an Algorithm. Face it, it could have been alot worse!
Hmm...theres something a little peculiar here. Oh i see what it is! the sentence is talking about itself! do you see that? what do you mean? sentences can\'t talk! No, but they REFER to things, and this one refers directly-unambigeously-unmistakably-to the very sentence which it is!

I wouldn't dispute what you have said (V)/\><, mainly because I know it to be true But I'm not so sure how relevant or appropriate this thread is anyway. Why does he feel the need to justify India's greatness? And some of those facts are debateable: In all the pages on pi I have read, and the assignments on pi I have had to do, never have I heard of a guy called Budhayana. afaik Archimedes came up with the first decent approximation of pi. The first university to the best of my knowledge, was in France, not India.

I have found this article on many sites - just out of interest, what magazine did it come from?

    Hey
I don't intend to tell that any civilisation is bad. My only intension is to reveal some facts the world does not know. Today, the world sympathises our country for some facts like child labour and living standards. I want the world to know that we have a very ancient civilization
and from the history , it is clear that no indian want to conquer others. ie, we are very much peace loving and i want a discussion about ancient civilizations. There are some great ancient civilizations and i want to understand about them as well.

I thought this was a security website? I think you may have gotten this one confused with www.history.com. Maybe you could find some good forums there for this stuff. And maybe the people there will care also.

is it true that in india people wipe their asses with one hand and shake with the other so as not to spread disease due to their lack of sanitation? just something i heard and was curious about.

the mayans had a complex system of math and science. they practically invented the game of basketball. they also had an incredibally advanced astronomical college they also sacrificed people daily and were one of the bloodiest races around. just goes to prove that intelligence and common sense do not go hand in hand.
