Thanks prodikal, good site!!!!! I think M$ did use BSD for their mail server (hotmail)at some point, and that's what they were refering to, don't know if that is true now though or not, net craft gives me the, oh wait, it worked, output from netcraft on hotmail. . .The site ad.law10.hotmail.com is running Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) on FreeBSD. . .looks like they're STILL using it, heh heh heh, ROCK ON BSD, I'm a recent convert and I love the OS!!
Every now and then, one of you won't annoy me.

When MS first got Hotmail, it was all on linux/apache. They tried to put it on NT, and it failed miserably. I have no doubt they have linux/unix in their environment because any OS competitor would have multiple OSes/platforms to test stability, etc.

However, I also have no doubt that MS uses linux internally for things 'that can't go down". A lot of people are forced to use windows-anything because it's widely available and they don't have a choice. But, those same people often opt to use linux because of it's free pricetag and greater flexibility and stability. Believers are made from those given a choice.
We the willing, led by the unknowing, have been doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much with so little for so long that we are now qualified to do just about anything with almost nothing.
