    Cisco
    Symantec
    NAI

    Most offer a suite of products.

    OpenSource, well, as you have been told, www.snort.org. Configuring snort is a bit involved if you are new to the security world. Don't let that stop you though.

    I hope this helps you a bit to get started for IDS.


    ps. If its a *nix system, i could recomend you AIDE (Advanced Intrusion Detection Enviroment)

    I use that one and its really nice.

    I think he means IDS as in (I)ntrusion (D)etection (S)ystems, and not a company, HackersWarrior. Oh well, I guess your intent was good. Or was it?
