    WARCRAFT 3 for Linux/FreeBSD

Hi guys/gals..finally someone done good job..for Linux/*nix games..
    check out this news :
Ken Culver recently announced his success in getting the Linuxulator to run the commercial winex product and Warcraft 3 for Linux. If you have copious free time go forth and play I suppose.

    Subject: Warcraft3 on FreeBSD

Just in case anyone here cares, I have implemented the linux ftruncate64,
truncate64, and mmap2 syscalls in the linuxulator on my computer, (mostly
cut 'n pasted the mmap2 from regular mmap with a couple of changes) and
with these changes it is possible to run the linux version of winex (the
one you have to pay for) to run warcraft 3. IT works in both direct3d mode
and in opengl mode using the following commandline:

    winex --dll dsound=n --dll quartz=n --dll d3d8=b War3.exe -- War3.exe

Anyway, just thought someone might want to know. If anyone wants
step-by-step instructions to getting this working I'll have those worked
up in the next few days and posted somewhere along with the patches to the
    linux kernel module.

    Ken

I think he mentioned that....we can get free to run that game..if we can use his method (if we sign up at www.transgaming.com we have to pay..)
But well at least..good news for Linux/*nix gamers..

Well you don't have to sign up at Transgaming to be able to download WineX only for the hassle free binary packages (deb and rpm)...

as optiq pointed out... the CVS is free.

direct download by copying this into a console...

    cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/winex login
    cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/winex co winex

Even though i would like to play games on my Freebsd box I fail to see the security issues here.
