PicoBSD + XFree86
PicoBSD
(A Single Floppy FreeBSD)
I need to get a copy of XFree86 (http://www.xfree86.org/)... I’m running PicoBSD (A mini-FreeBSD), and I’d like to minimize the space needed in order to run this gui... Just wanted to know your thoughts on this, there is a description of PicoBSD + Some Links… (In short- I'd like to minimize the space needed to run XFree86 and- I need to be able to run this off of the hard drive, The PicoBSD Kernel & stuff is on a Floppy Disk...) Thanx Guys and Gals :-)
I really like FreeBSD, it’s been great- and PicoBSD is just as cool, if not cooler ;-) it fits on a single floppy, with just enough tools to make things interesting (there are a few versions; dialup, network, router*, et cet era)...
Below, Text Taken From: “http://www.picobsd.org”
What is PicoBSD ?
PicoBSD is primarily just FreeBSD running from RAM-disk, with all needed executable programs packed into a single executable ELF file in the RAM-disk.
It is a one floppy version which in its different variations allows you to have secure dialup access, small diskless router or even a dial-in server.
With flexibility that FreeBSD gives, and full source code available, one can build a small installation performing various tasks, including (but not limited to):
* diskless workstation * portable dial-up access solution * custom demo-disk
* embedded controller (flash or EEPROM) * firewall * communication server
* replacement for commercial router * diskless home-automation system * and many others....
Current version of PicoBSD is 0.500.

From Most any FreeBSD distribution site…
/usr/src/release/picobsd
yeah, I\'m gonna need that by friday...

PicoBSD is not the only Single Floppy *Nix Style OS
Here is a list of quite a few single floppy *nix Os's: http://bengross.com/smallunix.html
When you connect to your ISP, you are potentially opening your computer to the world. There are \'naughty people\' out there who enjoy breaking into other people\'s computers. Give some thought to the security of your computer...

Thank you sweet_angel, i do have a linux cd lying around somewhere... The main question is, how do i cut down on the size needed to run these GUI's - and what other GUI's should i look into...
Sorry for not making this more clear in the original post :-(
