    help-my comp. refuses to boot

    I have changes the video card in my athlon 1.7ghx monitor from geforce 3 ti to geforce 4 mx-se,and i had also added an extra 256 mb ram in addition to the 512 mb i had before in the 3rd slot-now my comp refuses to start and the monitor is blank...it lets out a seris of beeps after booting..the fan works though....any help

    first put it back to the way it was when it ran ok then add the new card next to the other card and boot it up when new hardware is detected you can add the new drivers and remove the old card from the systems device drivers area then switch over your monitor to the new card. after you have that working good then try the new ram card.

    also needed to add it could have been the ram if your system doesnt support High Density ram. My AMD Athlon XP1800 system came with a paper stating it doesnt recommend using such high density ram.

    as well as ghost's suggestion which will most likely cure the problem, also make sure that your AGP card is securely in the AGP slot as a AGP card which isnt quite in the slot properly can cause a system to not boot

    hey mclearchy...u hit the bulls eye there....that was exactly the problem....i just gave a shove to the AGP card and bingo...everything was allright with the world again.....and here i am writing to you from my restored pc.....thanks a lot for the practical solution...and thank u ghost_25inf too.....wish i could give out some antionline points to u both sure will as soon as i get some greenies for myself...
