Phoenix666 writes "NYT Business reports Hilary Rosen is leaving . Question is, what head will spring from the Hydra next? Could this signal a shift in the RIAA's tactics? The article reports 'Rosen's departure comes as the organization sought to soften its image among Internet consumers, many of whom viewed the RIAA -- and Rosen personally -- with antipathy over incessant pressure for crackdowns on sharing digital music over the Internet.'" A press release on the RIAA site says that Rosen will leave at the end of this year.
Too much pressure for her? Awww... so sad to see her go...

Now, lets break out the champaign!

The way they (RIAA) are headed lately is straight to a fight to the death with 12 citizens. What do you think the score would be at the ending bell? Maybe.... citizens=twelve, RIAA=zero? Can you imagine RIAA trying to trace the logs through all the servers from Johnny's keyboard to some URL that has music, then trace a *specific* music back to Johnny's harddrive through the same spiderweb of servers? Just do a tracert to some music site from your ISP and see how many times it crosses the USA before it hooks up. Try that one on a jury, half of which think computers are some tool of the devil, and the defense attorney looking each of them in the face and saying; "You convict my client, on the basis of this hocus-pocus RIAA is trying to feed you, and *YOU*, Mr. and Mrs. Juror, you, and your grandchildren, are *NEXT*!" Anybody wanna take bets on the first test between RIAA and the citizens? Now, if Johnny isn't smart enough to demand a jury trial, and it just goes before some judge that attends the bashes financed by Knoxville, et-al, then Johnny is cooked goose. But not with a competent attorney, and not before a jury of his peers. In fact, the term "a jury of peers" might play a part in jury selection, might it not? Would the smart defense attorney pick young, 'puter-literate jurors, or would (s)he look for Grandma's and Grandpa's? If I were the defense, i'd go for the grandma's and grandpa's, they would relate Johnny to their own grandchildren. "Decision for the defendant, plaintiff to pay all attorney and court-costs, plus, let's see, how much for corporate harassment shall we award Johnny...ten mil should do it!"
Sure, Hillary and RIAA could win one before a tainted judge, but not before a jury in this country, at least not in this century.

    Smile KAZAA Sues RIAA

Time for edit has expired, don't want to start a new thread, so am adding this to P-80's thread from last week.
Seems that Kazaa has come up with serious grounds to sue RIAA under Federal Anti-Trust statutes and other very serious violations of Federal Law. If you are interested, today's story clip is Here. Personally, i hope Kazaa whips RIAA'a butt, if Kazaa's charges are true. Maybe Madame whatshername saw this coming and her attorneys told her it was going to be nasty? Who knows.
