Question The game for the movie Hackers

I know it sounds kind of selfish, but then I thought it might start a good discussion. Hehe, well I hope so anyway.

The game I'm looking for, I don't know the name of it, but this is what I remember:

It was the game MGM had on their web site to go along with the movie Hackers. It was a little EXE file you could download and run, when you ran it there was this interface that came up that looked like a laptop. You could watch the trailers for the movie, or you could play this little game. The game was basically where you had to decypher the binary code and figure out what the sentance was. Or something liek that, I can picture it better than I can explain. You had like a minute I think, and if you didn't make it then the tankers sunk, if you made it you stopped the microangelo virus from causing it's problems.

Does anyone know what I'm taking about? Even a name or something. It's a stupid game I know, and I'm probably showing my age a little here, but I'm just wondering. I keep thinking about it now and then, and thought maybe this would be a cool place to ask.

Yeah I'm trying to get in touch with my childhood here, brings back memories!

    I don't remember that....

    I do remember the movie sword-fish haveing a contest/game.
Every once in awhile they'd have a password and whoever got the password won prizes and stuff.

Maybe the peaple at MGM had something similair 'eh?

    |The|Specialist - No this game was simply to just play and have fun. I never saw what they had for Swordfish.

techtech - Yeah I thought it was a cute little game myself, but then again I was younger than and really didn't know computers like I did today. I remember I always use to have it startup when I started up my computer, made me feel "cool".. heheh Thanks techtech, even if you could find the name of it or something I think it would put my thoughts at ease. I don't know why it's been hanging around in my mind lately.

I'll check the DVD when I get home -if its there I'll let you know and you can pull off a rented copy (I think) or a purchased copy (I think it was $9.99 when I bought it).

    Cheers,

I have the DVD at home, cost $9.99, and it doesn't have any reference to it that I can find. (If it does, its in one of the commentaries.) Sorry.

BTW, at the title screen, if you hit next, it will take you to a password prompt, with four choices. Only one works, and it takes you back to the title screen. I've gone through it and looked for changes or a new option, and found none. Just thought I might share that here.

    Thanks to techtech!

I've got the DVD too. Actually I bought the DVD when it first came out, cost me like $32USD plus shipping. I do think that clicking on the "Hackers" title and being taken to the "Secret Area" was a very cool touch. I love the graphics as you are surfing throught he gibson. Mmmmm.

To [glowpurple]techtech[/glowpurple] my cyber , I can not thank you enough!!!! I feel like the little kid I was when I first played the game. For as simple as it is, and as old, I still think it's pretty cool. Plus I've lost my skill, I can barely get three letters in one minute. Then again I kind of forget what the message says. But that's have the fun!
