Guys,
Maybe it is just me but thehorse13's steps to get rid of Windows Messenger didn't function to me.
Besides, where thehorse13 says:
Now goto Control Panel -> Add/Remove -> Windows Components. Windows Messenger should now be listed.
All you have to do now is remove the checkmark from it...
If you remove the chechmark from it, it says that it will only remove an access to Messenger from the desktop, or quick start, or something similar (i don't remember now) but not that it will remove Windows Messenger from your PC... and so maybe it didn't function to me.
I just can't understand why many of you say something like "yeah!!!, i will get rid of Messenger, thanks..." without testing thehorse13 steps. Do any of you could uninstall Messenger with thehorse13 steps?
One more thing, phishphreek80's program (link) did it perfectly!!!
Bye,
DKRR

Hi,
I just used it to get ride of Mesenger version 4.7 that works separately from version 5.0.0543 (last one) and so i was using both versions at once. Now i just have 5.0.0543 and use it to chat with many friends, customers, and AO members... as well as AIM, Yahoo! Messenger and ICQ. If a friend, familiar or customer has one of these clients then i have it to chat with them...
I understand and agree with your point AciDriveHB.

DKRR-
as well as AIM, Yahoo! Messenger and ICQ.
Thats just silly to run all those. Just use trillian!
It will roll all those IM clients into one, easy to use client with skins you can change.

Raider,
the steps I posted worked fine for me as well as a few others. I can't think of a reason why it did not work for you. What happened? Did it fail to show up in the list after you edited the file?

thehorse13,
Nope, the steps where OK and it showed up in the list after editing and erasing the "hide, " part. Then i unchecked the box, clicked accept, rebooted, went to program files / messenger, open messenger and the program started. So... it wasn't uninstalled.
But it's OK, i used phishphreek link and it did the job.
Thanks,
DKRR

OK cool.
So you are now using trillian? I used it but I got tired of MSN, AOL and yahoo blocking access to the trillian client. What build are they up to? The last one I used was pretty buggy. If you blocked someone, they could still see you. Anyway, that was about 8 months ago.
Regards
