    Post Default Password Locations

Another one of my text archives.

This text shows the file location of the Password files on various OS's

    Provided for information purposes.

Its also handy because you can lock out these directories from end users.

Please correct me if i am wrong...but:

Its also handy because you can lock out these directories from end users.
Would that not prevent logins....if the user has no access to those files, how would the users privelges be able to get information from them? My example is based on my linux system. If i were to take away the read persmissions from my /etc/password then i would not be able to start any apllication, or loggon to my system.

    Total Idiot

    Yes,

Forgive me for being a total idiot.

You are correct. What I meant was more along the lines of locking them from network browses through user shares and such.

I am just not with it today.

mrs mark_boyle2002 kept me up late last night.
