installing unix
I’ve just finished installing Red Hat 8.0 and Mandrake. From this place many thnx to all you guys. In a few hours installed it all and no worries. That from a newbie!!! Must say that I’ve taking notice to several threads and tutorials that you guys wrote. Some off them were very, very useful. Still I’m very eager to learn more about unix. So, keep up coming with those post/threads.

While this site is a great resource for information about *nix os and software, don't remain here for all your knowledge.
Linux.org has a bulletin board as well (similar to AO's) which is strickly about *nix information.
Check it out if you want to further your ventures...

RPM finder
http://www.rpmfind.net
Here you find all necessary RPM files that you might need for RPM based distros.
FreshMeat
http://www.freshmeat.net Here you find more programs as you couldn’t find in RPM format. The programs are in RPM or as *.tar.gz format.
Just a couple sites that have been helpful for me
