    How hard disks work

I found this link and although it is not extremely technical, it will give those who don't know how hard drives work a basic idea. It also gives a small history lesson about the first IBM drive invented in 1955.

    Hope this helps!

ArsTechnica has many good papers on the internal design of processors, along with a lot of other generally good stuff.
