new threat
I just came across this and thought it might be of some interest, especially as it was discovered months agohttp://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99993456 . It is especially interesting how homeland security is involved-does this mean the black hats when caught, get prosecuted under the patriot act?? Oh that's right-no trials under that act!
I do not condone cracking but I do not support the sensationalism that our current administration is using to justify any action they see fit to do.
sorry for the duplicate post
the only way to fix it is to flush it all away-tool

As the above thread shows this was well known and the Gov had little to do with the push was more of vendors working together and solving the problem before the exploit was published. Perhaps the fact of the Patroit Act made the person that found the flaw think twice about publishing the info is about as far as the gov was involved they are simply in a loop that's been around for some time now.
I believe that one of the characteristics of the human race - possibly the one that is primarily responsible for its course of evolution - is that it has grown by creatively responding to failure.- Glen Seaborg
