    Is it possible to change the shell of Windows XP?

    you can use litestep.... I've got it running on this 2K laptop. and a friend of mine has it on his XP system.....

    I tried the link and could not get it to work, even googled it and really could not find anyhting (except for exercise typs of things).

    I mean in a file, I already have litestep... I need to chaneg the shell back to explorer.

    In Win NT/2K/XP the shell setting is stored in the registry at this location:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

    change the shell value to point to your shell. With the full path.

    It may be easyer for you to use a shell swaper such as Fast Swap http://home.arcor.de/patrizia.siniba.../products.html

    It says it is compatible with Windows XP
