    Imagine having this net connection!!

    Net speed record smashed

Scientists have set a new internet speed record by transferring 6.7 gigabytes of data across 10,978 kilometres (6,800 miles), from Sunnyvale in the US to Amsterdam in Holland, in less than one minute.

I think I'd give my clothes, house and car, in exchange to just spending an hour using it!!

That is quite amazing........but there would be absolutely no need for that kind of bandwidth for the majority of internet users.

Im quite happy with my 576 down and 288 up!!!

Incidently cHiLiEd TiMMaY, what would you spend that hour doing?

Well I'd spend the first 3 minutes doing Padre's suggestion
Then try and gain the upperhand against my friends on Counterstrike, by kicking their arses!!
And also watch all the trailers on Quicktime... I'm a sucker for them

That would be something I'd call "fast enough"... You could load one 700 MB movie in the time it takes to find the appropriate folder for it and click "Save"! But you'd also need a new network adapter... Not to mention adding some more RAM for buffering, as no hard drive can write 923 Mb/s... (Not too sure about that RAM speed either, someone could enlighten me about it.) And not too many (pr0n) servers have that fast outbound connection either, so...

honestly that kinda bandwidth would be a waste unless you had your own network and sites, gotta member your connection can be fast as hell but if a website you wanna see isnt as fast your not gunna get to play with that speed much, me im happy with my 1.7 MB per sec connection, now if you really wanted to play get an OS 256, its over 13 GB per second (creams self) oh sorry had to.

an IBM press release once read: " We've increased the RAM to 640k, noone will ever need any more than that. "

LOL, I think I'd hold that sentiment if i were you. If it is one thing we as a society are good at in recent years, it is coming up with ways to use up bandwidth! I'm sure that by the time internet2 is in full swing, we'll be complaining about our "crappy fiber connections, only 200mbps, SHOOT!"

That is deifnately a sweet speed

I've got 1mbps up and 128kbps down and it does the trick for me...
but when i was at home last year i had 7mbps up and 320kbps down that was the best connection ever..... nothing like downloading at 900k/s and only playing 40 bux a month for it.

Don't forget gore, you're in the states and I'm in Canada... everything is cheaper down there to start with even after the exchange rate, and if you convert your 19 bux to to CDN Funds you're looking at about 30 bux.. and here in Ontario we pay a wonderful 15% taxes. It's a downside of living in Canada.
