You mean this story? I do believe that chip design will change. There is a real speed limit to what we can push through gold/silver/copper. And I believe we're starting to meet it. There are also issues as to how small we can make chips with those metals. Some innovations I've seen included organic cells in place of the chip itself.
While we probably won't see these chips for about 10-20 years I suspect that we'll see them in our lifetimes and the machines that run then will do even more amazing things.
