    He's a fool. Should have notified the Systems Admin immediately, then maybe he would have been praised, not prosecuted.

    Sorry I can't give you a link to validate this info, but I heard he was working on a legitimate project for the school, and some admin who wasn't in the know about the project wanted to throw him in the slammer for it because s/he thought he was stealing the info, but he was just doing work for the school.

    If I find the link, I'll post it, or if anyone else can confirm / deny this, post it as well.

    If this young man was doing any kind of project for his school, he should have received written permission to do so. Without that warm blanket of protection, he's s.o.l. He should have known better anyway.
