Email HELP

Hopefully someone can help me here. I have been getting email viruses sent to me by an email address and I want them to stop, message filters don`t do it. Any ideas would be great, I want them to stop. I can`t even email the person back as it says its not a valid email addy?

hmm.... do you mean you keep getting infected, or that you keep getting them and ur AV grabs them but your tired of getting the emails all together? I bit more info would be beneficial to the rest of us in helping you out.

Hi, Thanks for the response. Yes my norton grabs them but each email that is infected causes the norton to activate while I`m getting messages, very annoying. I have to then go inot Norton to delete the files. Just a time waste for me. I want them to stop or be able to tell this person Enough. I received 4 from the same email addy today from this person.

if your pop server (you didn't say what your using) supports fowarding get an account with a mail server that has virus scanning included like hotmail and collect your mail from there. as long as you keep a good AV program running on your box this should keep the more common virus/worms from getting threw.

and although it may appear they are comming from the same computer viruses tend to "spoof" where they are coming from so more than likely they came from for different people that have your address in their address book but thats just as guess because you didn't name the virus you received.

Tedob1 right mate, why didn't you tell the virus name ?
did u update the Anti - V ? I run Norton Corporate Edition and i dont have any problem with the virus.

Usually if someone is ententionally spreading virii they will hit random e-mail addresses such as someone@hotmail.uk.com or somedude@yahoo.com if you are getting flooded with virii then its most likely someone you know who has been infected with some mass mailing worm. They most likely will not even know whats happening so it would probably be a good idea to tell everyone you know or anyone who may have your address to either go grab or update existing AV.

Even on hotmail you could get viruses through...
This week I got a few Klez worms comin through, so the McAfee hotmail is using isn't thight enough I guess.
Well I could sort out the prob and seemed someone I know his b0x was infected.

Luckily my AV is always up-to-date and additionaly scans every messages that's coming in, so no worries there

mentioned already address spoofing is very common, but also as mentioned by |The|Specialist a friend of yours may have become infected by a worm and because your in the address book you have been included. Its sometimes dificult to tell what realy is going on. When spoofing ocures the from address is faked, if you take a look at the full email headers, you can learn how to detect forgery in mail headers. Useualy in your options there is a section for display properties, and in there will be the setting for the headers.

You would want to locate the isp home page for the person who is sending you the violating email, and send an email to the abuse@isp.com whatever isp may be.
