    how to give a password to a folder using Dos Prompt in Windows

    plz tell me how to assign a password to a folder in windows by using msdos environment. i heard from somebody it is possible to do that without using third party softwares like magic folders. also how to hide it while specifing the user also. i.e. only the user who has hidden the folder can then unhide and see it.

    I'm not exactly sure how to do it from the DOS prompt...
    in win2k ->
    1. right click on the folder...
    2. click on the "security" tab...
    3. set the "Advanced..."

    i included screen shot ->
    yeah, I\'m gonna need that by friday...

    Is this an emulator of DOS 5 or is it installed under Win2K?

    DOS does not have any ACLs built into it. For Win2K command-line commands this might help: http://www.labmice.net/Windows2000/A...on/command.htm

    you have to use the NTFS file system to set privlages for files and folders. i think, so correct me if i am wrong.

    note, once you convert to ntfs you can't go back to fat without reformating the partition.
    Hmm...theres something a little peculiar here. Oh i see what it is! the sentence is talking about itself! do you see that? what do you mean? sentences can\'t talk! No, but they REFER to things, and this one refers directly-unambigeously-unmistakably-to the very sentence which it is!
