Hackers Fluffi Bunni gang under arrest

    full article here
Fluffi Bunni embarrassed leading Internet security organizations by breaking into their own computers and replacing Web pages with a message that "Fluffi Bunni ownz you" and a digital photograph of a pink rabbit at a keyboard. The attacks, which began in June 2000, lasted about 18 months, then stopped mysteriously and created one of the Internet's most significant hacker whodunits in years
    [...]
The guy was playing a game of `gotcha.' He wanted to prove that even firms that specialize in security can be hacked," said Mark Rasch, chief security counsel for Solutionary Inc. and a former Justice Department cybercrime prosecutor. "It's like someone who robs banks to prove that banks can be robbed.
I don't think these guys dammaged anything, but FBI did not appriciate their humor ....

I'm not sure if I'm right on this, but I think about a year ago `Fluffi Bunni' defaced SecurityFocus by modifying the graphics on the site and adding a pink fluffy bunny

They broke the law, they deserve punishment. <-This comming from me, a hacker.

I agree that hacking corporate is not a thing to do in respect to law.
But I'm not sure those guys are Blackhats.

It's valuable to the IP community that some folks say "Internet is not secure, look we even deface some security business web site! So think twice when doing business over internet".

In my sense it's just another step to prove that the whole security business and standard have to evolve & consequences are that we still have security work for a long period of time...

Anyone willing to prove security doesn't exist, get an A in my book.

Aboiut that security focus website, it didn't get hacked or defaced, the website that does the advertising for security focus got hacked.

Also "labels" such as White, gray, black, are not used much, since everyone starts somewhere, usually in front a weak windoze box, then they realize they need a virus scanner, then they realize they need a firewall then they realize they need a better firewall, or they forgot to get that almight trojan scanner, then they use proxies to hide their ip, they they "Secure their pc, then they named their box" or their "machine." Then, and only then do some start dual booting with Linux installed with their weakly configured XP OS, they they realize they can do everything XP couldn't do right in the first place. Then they make the switch to Linux, and use that instead.

But these steps take time and I seen it over and over, and very few stay with linux, and even fewer who stay with linux know how to use it properly. Then some people enjoy thier remaining lives configuring scripts on their spare times.

Eh! That was crazy. As long as he is a media whore you can bet your ass they will have defacements in their name and support groups.
