    Question Parallel Universes?!

    Hey all--

I was just browsing the internet when I came across a fascinating, yet mind boggling topic, of parallel universes outside our own. Intrigued, I clicked on the link and started reading and all the while extremly skeptical, however my reasoning was greatly tested and the article further invoked the possiblity that this could actually be real. When searching further I discovered many other news sites with the same articles. Read the initial link I clicked on if your still interested...

I am truely fascinated by the topic, it's really something that boggles the mind...

These other universes contain space, time and strange forms of exotic matter. Some of them may even contain you, in a slightly different form.
Whoa, pretty far out stuff (excuse the pun heh heh) what are your thoughts?

The real question is not whether peace can be obtained, but whether or not mankind is mature enough for it...

Yes why not. For long times scientist believe that earth was flat. Christophe Colombs believed to discover the Indies, it did not think that there would be an island in the medium: America.

Science and the beliefs change every days and the pioneers are regarded as illuminated in their time then like visionaries many years later.

A lot more fun than Pavlov's Dog...

If Reality is a set that contains every possibility, then it is a tautology, which is why it doesn't make sense to us.

Cool post. It does make you wonder.

I must be having one of those days for movie flashbacks, as I had one from "Animal House" where Pinto, Boone, Katey and the Professor are experimenting with mind altering substances, and Pinto and the Professor start talking about "tiny little universes," and Pinto freaks out because he eludes to the fact that we are a tiny little universe and that the gunk underneath his fingernail could be another tine little universe.

Ok - so maybe that was not in keeping with the intellectual portion here. How about this? Professor Stephen Hawking does talk of things like this as well. I have started "A Brief History of Time," and woof, I need a break every few minutes to digest. Here's his site:

And from one of his lectures "Life in the Universe":

Again Radical - great post! Thanks!

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the read, I found it quite perplexing as one might. If you're really interested in this go pick up a recent copy of Scientific American magazine at your local library or bookshop. They have a whole chapter based on the theories, and some complex vocab to improve your english heh heh.(<-- SAT paranioia.)...

Here's a link to the article...

It's the May 2003 article, hope you find it just as mind boggling!

We live in 3 dimensions (4 if we take time). Now image a ball coming toward us, we see it, its shape. Now imagine we see only 2 dimensions so we can't see the ball like in 3 dimensions. To see it imagine the ball crossing a plane and we see only the intersection between them. we see a circle that increases then shrinks.

So if we live in N dimensions but we can only see 3. The others can be parrallel Universe no ?

It is just a theory and I did not drink nor smoke illicit substances
