    Submarine PC!

I am thinking about trying to submerge my box into a fluid compound that doesn't conduct electricity and is not too heavy. The fluid also should be inexpensive (if possible) and translucent, or transparent. Does anyone know a fluid I could use? I know the idea is crazy, but if I could do this and have the fluid cycled through the PC via a fan then I could have a cool (as in low heat and looks) quiet running system with slim to none RTF. Please advise, Thanks!

If the box is air tight purified water will work (as soon as any impurities get in it will counduct electricity so not a good solution). The liquid most submerged systems use is mineral oil. Now to go realy nuts get rid of the fan, plunk the mother board into some sort of water proof container (a old fridge/freezer or cooler works. fill the thing with mineral oil and put a cooling unit form a wall air conditioner or fridge on top. then get a water pump and pump the oil up over the cooling element and let it flow back into the case . At onetime there was an online tutorial for doing this but the site seems tohave been replaced by a porn site.

another option is to build a water cooling rig and use old fassion tap water..its a lot cheaper and here is a tutorial on building it yourself.

submerging your system seems kinda silly to me. Whatcha gonna do when you wanna install a fancy new video card or upgrade your RAM? get out elbow lenght gloves. If your worried about heat put in an extra fan or two or get one of those fancy water pump systems allready mentioned in another thread. Alot cheaper and WAY more practical

But on a system like my alpha if you get the system cold enough you can more then duble the chip speed...I know some guys pushing their 1.5 alpha t o4 ghz with no stability loss useing a freon cooling system

You want to do submersion cooling it sounds like. The liquid is called hydrofluoroether, you can get it from 3M and it is hella expensive (~$220 a gallon). It requires some kind of interchanger to cool down the liquid, simply keeping it submerged will eventually boil off all your expensive liquid.
Heres a link..., I've seen some pretty cool set-ups, but I don't know the links anymore.
