    i would have to say that it would be the xanth series by Piers Anthony.

    I've read a lot of books on various security topics, but the one I've found that is comprehensive and quite relevant is "Inside Network Perimeter Security" by Stephen Northcutt, Lenny Zeltser, Scott Winters, et. al

    The coverage is not only technical, but also covers important areas in security such as audits. policies, etc....

    I dont have one favourite but a couple that i read over and over again as they are my favourites but all on different topics so no one book could be my favourite.

    Illuminatus Trilogy
    Do andorids dream of electric sheep- Philip K Dick (bladerunner for those that dont know)
    Celestine Prophecies
    DNS & BIND - Allbitz and liu
    Network intrusion Detection 1,2,3 An analysts handbook
    Approaching Zero - Clough and Mungo
    Lord of the Rings - Tolkein
    Hobbit - Tolkein
    Silmarrilion -Tokein
    Neuromancer - Gibson
    1984 - Orwell
    Children of the Matrix- Icke

    and any copy of VIZ

    The Silmarilion takes a bit of effort to read doesn't it? I'd say my favourite books so far would be:
    Lord of the Rings
    Dune (the first book)
    C - The Complete Reference
    Pretty much any Wrox book (they're amazing)
    And the book that got me into programming, C for Dummies Vols. I and II
