    Linux iptable script

Anyone know of a good GUI iptable script that I could use? I am fairly new to *nix and can't even come close to comprehending iptables. I have searched on-line and have found several options but figured I would ask here to get some input back on them.

    thnx,

I think you mean something like this: http://www.shorewall.net
It's what I use, its easy, and supports all of the higher functions that you may use (port fowarding, masquerading, etc.)
It's also extremely easy to set up. I got it going in a couple of hours during my first week with linux

Here come a on site tool that may help,
u follow the step (DHCP, device, ....) and the web page will generate the scipt for u!
I'll advice not to put your real IP adds in, but I think it's a good tool to learn & progress

iptables script, the short answer: http://www.involution.com/iptables_demo/

iptables script, the long answer: http://iptables-tutorial.frozentux.n...-tutorial.html

Those are the two best references/examples I've seen, and I've done a lot of looking.

Here is a pretty helpful IPTABLES script generator, and it gives you directions on how to install them too. You can check it out and all these other ones fellow memebrs gave and you will have a better understanding, i hope!!!

Drop over to Freshmeat at (http://freshmeat.net/) and search for firewalls in project tree. This will literally return many different flavours of firewalls for you to look at.

I personally use gShield which is a small script based firewall that is extremely easy to set up and has a well documented config file. It can be obtained here: http://muse.linuxmafia.org/gshield.html.

For a gui firewall setup I wouldn't overlook Bastille that also offers hardening script options for various distro's of linux that help lock the box down - it is very informative as to what each option does in regards to securing your machine. You can have a look here: http://www.bastille-linux.org/ to see if it has a build for your distro.

    Good luck.
