2.) When posting info on tools, please include the Operating System in the title of the post, such as "Windows IDS Tools", or "Linux Firewall Tools"
I just recently switched to a *nix platform and do not know what apps are any good, but I did notice that people are not posting what OS's these apps are for.
Just mentioning it since it was posted.

    Operating System Mandrake Linux

Firewall: Shorewall. If there is better free one, let me know!

Anti-Virus: BitDefender. I was told antivirus was not needed for Linux.

    Stay Updated!

While this idea of an apps thread is a good one, I'd like to point out that it has been done before. Can't really blame you for not knowing as most of you are new and wouldn't of known it existed.

maybe the threads could be merged ?

That's a good idea....no point in having two threads for the same thing!
Windows 9x: n. A collection of 32 bit extensions and a graphical shell for a 16 bit patch to an 8 bit operating system originally coded for a 4 bit microprocessor. Written by a 2 bit company that can\'t stand 1 bit of competition.

Yeee, but one problem that can came up.......................what if all sites and programs will be repeated all the time? // I mean when this thread will be much longer. //

    Will that be cool?
// too far away outside of limit

Well people will just have to look from where the file or site is from....so they could not post same link twice...even if it happens it wont be like 10 times a day....it would be very rare

Why not just merge the threads and make the combined one a sticky?

I am in the process of re-building my system, after a virus wreaked havoc with me OS.
(W2K Pro SP4 + all patches, Symantec netsec 2004 on guard, and 'it' still came through. this thread is a godsend. Everything the average paranoid Op could need, all in one spot.
For what it's worth, I think if it is possible to combine, then do so. Otherwise, make certain that each thread has links to the other ??
so now I'm in my SIXTIES FFS
WTAF, how did that happen, so no more alterations to the sig, it will remain as is now
