Simple rebooting question
I've searched google for an answer to this, but no luck. Would logging on and off have the same effect as rebooting? Like when you install a new program and it says you need to reboot in order for changes to come into effect, would logging out then back in let the changes come into effect?

no. logging out does just that, log you out. Rebooting allows changes to take affect to things that are running, when you log out, those things are still running so it doesnt allow any changes to take effect.

If you log out all the processes continues running into your machine....
so rebboting is different from the log out
