OSPF enhancement - Open source?
Folks, i'm pretty sure many of u heard about the routing protocol enhancements CISCO had announced. (thougth, there is not a lot of documentation about in the cco)
edit:
they updated the cco recently here is an url on topic
One enhancement i'm particumlary interested in is OSPF incremental (hereby a PDF about the principle).
I'm wondering if anybody heard of a similar implementation for linux?
thanx for ur help

I don't know if sm1 is interested by the subject but here comes the answer:
I've contacted IP Infusion, that own ZEBRA and so far they don't tend to implement Shortest Path Algorithm enhancement (actually ZEBRA is not maintained any more). But they are analyzing the market to found out whether or not it could be an opportunity to their commercial verion ZEBOS.
Any info r welcome.

I've read that Zebra's OSPF implementation is really aweful and is "unuseable"... any words on that?
Their BGP apparently fairs ok though.

zebra's OSPF is aweful and you need to tinker alot. i was on the mailing list, and i don't remember when there wasn't a problem. i wouldn't say unuseable, but more like how you want to use it for the size of the organization.

Ammo: I've tested ZEBRA essentially for OSFP.
And it's doing just fine.
As far as the Shortest Path Tree performances are concerned:
I've done some measurment comparaison between CISCO 3640 & ZEBRA using the excellent paper of Aman Shaikh "Experience in Black-box OSPF Measurement"
My conclusion is that convergence and SPF calculation performances are very similar. And I'm very satisfied.
As far Command Line is concerned: The ZEBRA interface is exactly the same as CISCO (conf t; router ospf 1, ....) thanx to the vtish gui.
If you have any info that could change my mind about it, you'll make my day
thanx
