Thank You, I finaly got it, the way you guys help out us newbies is great. I can only hope to return the favor someday. One other question? You stated that I can change my address if I wanted to? I also see that it doesn,t show my address to anybody my real one that is. So what else can I do now that I can address my router? Just some pointers from you if you would.

IT IS PRETTY SIMPLE TO DO BUT IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE JUST GO TO THE STATUS PAGE AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN ip IN THERE FROM YOUR PROVIDER. IF YOU DO YOUR ROUTER IS ONLINE THEN IF IT DOSN'T WORK IT IS PROLLY SOME SETTINGS YOU CHANGED AND YOU COULD COLD THE RESET BUTTON IN FOR 10 SECS THE FACTORY DEFAULT SHOULD WORK FINE UNLESS YOU ARE PLUGGING INTO THE SHARED PORT. THE THE SHARED PORT IS EITHER 1 OR 4 i CAN'T REMEMBER ....YOU MAY NOT WANT TO USE THOSE

why do you need a switch and a router both if you are only using 2 comps and 1 modem? seems like on or the other would work just as well. I would just remove the switch from the network seeing as it realy just isnt necsecary

Linksys Router
First....
Try to do a hardware reset...
Then power cycle....
Plug in a computer network as DHCP
You may or will have to do a connection repair if using XP/W2K
95-ME...reboot the computer
Then http://192.168.1.1
No Login Name just admin as a password
Now If you cannot get into the router, you may have a DUD...
Check your cables first....
I have run into 1 out of about 50 Linksys dud routers I have set up.
If you can get into the router check to see of you can see if the
Linksys cable modem can be seen... Should grap an unroutable
IP usually 192.168.0. series....
The some of the new Linksys Cable modems are also Routers, but not
controled by the customer. The Interface is on 192.168.0.1 and same
login info as a standard Linksys router.... But not much control
by the customer...
I have even seen WAP's built into the new cable modems.
Neat if you ask me......
