I just hope they do go with the IBM PPC chip and not the motorola chip.... The IBM chip is something like 3 times faster then the motorola (don't remember the exact numbers). But they have been partners with motorola for so long that who knows what will happen.

I heard from inside sources that they are going to go with the IBM chip and that Motorola is going to partner with IBM from here on out with any new chip designs that are made for Apple

souleman you speak gospel..., motorola has been screwing apple for so long... IBM has been produicng far superior PPC chips for so long and Apple has been blind to it...

I'm trying to convince my friend that he needs a MacOS X box w/ dual procs for his Pro Logic and Pro Tools station, but he only used them on OS 9 and it is taking some effort to convince him that the difference between OS 9 and OS X is like Win3.1 and Win2k..., but he is a music guy and not a computer guy...

Well...I have been trailing off enough sentences for today...,

    Peace,
    Dhej

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but I am not much of a Mac guy. Is apple still using RISC architecture or is that ancient history?

Yup, NeuTron, the IBM PowerPC 970 is a 64 bit PowerPC RISC processor..

    and it's one powerfull toy..

I'd realy like to get my hands one one of those soon, but I'd bet it's a fat chance I'll ever get one..
