That's just sad. Gotta laugh at LUSERS.
Mankind have a great aversion to intellectual labor; but even supposing knowledge to be easily attainable, more people would be content to be ignorant than would take even a little trouble to acquire it.

Doubt the DoD would react to a simple probe like that.. i find it more beneficial to tell the newbie *why* what they are doing is wrong, and inform them of the consequences - otherwise you are doing nothing more than pushing a blind man down the stairs IMHO.

You are correct. But all of the log was not posted. So dont assume. He was talked to.

Actually, not only does yahoo have a central server but all of akima technologies does. It doesn't have that type of access that phate was pretending, but it does have information on every machine that the company owns and having access to it would make it a lot easier to access the other machines. Most companies have a machine like that. It makes the ob of the sysadmin and netadmin a lot easier if you don't have to remember the names and physical locations and everything elseo for a couple hudread+ machines. Not to mention the info you could get from an internal router.

So you're saying that the DoD actually contacted him?

Dunno about that, especially since the amount of drops/rejects on their numerous firewalls problably amount in the millions per day. They would need more than a full department of investigators just to track/investigate each attempt....

Then again, we are talking about government.

No, he is saying that he talked to him more then just what he said... the conversation with the guy didn't end there, it kept going.
