Net send over the internet
lately i have been playing arround with "net send comp-name message" after upgrading to win2k pro and i coded a nice little GUI to go with net send to make it kinda like an instant messenger service. now i want to expand my knowledge on it once more, how do spammers use netsend over the internet to like advertise porn/colleges and god knows what else has popped up on my screen, i sent my friend my lil app so i could try and talk with him over the internet with it but it didnt work, i made sure he typed "net start messenger" to ensure it was turned on but still no success...
he uses windows XP pro, is it a conflict between the operating systems? or is there a special way to use netsend over the internet... i have asked this question on another forum and they just gave me childish responses saying that im just going to create another annoying spamware app, i assume they responded like that because they didnt know the answer, but who knows. any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated....
oh one more thing, is there a way i could have my application detect if net send is running or stopped? that way if its stopped i could have it alert them to turn it on if they want to use the app, i wouldnt forcefully turn it on because thats just rude and they probably have it off for a reaosn, I.E. no spam lol.
once again, thanks in advance for any help.

Im not sure about OS conflicts and the like, but i imagine spammers send via a 'brute force' method -- ie;
net send 203.164.16.54
net send 203.164.16.55
net send 203.164.16.56 etc.

I did a quick Google search and found some dirtwad selling a prog
for 20 bucks. This prog will spam the net with messenger spam.
The seller swears that it isn't spam.
I thought net send wasn't routable, but I guess someone
has "improved" it.

thank you, i think my ISP might be the one blocking netsend now, because it wasnt making sense why it would work on my network but not on the internet

Why not use and ICQ/AIM/etc. etc. to talk to your friend? Net send is sort of bare bones.
Mankind have a great aversion to intellectual labor; but even supposing knowledge to be easily attainable, more people would be content to be ignorant than would take even a little trouble to acquire it.
