Formatting my server because someone hacked into it sounds pretty boring to me...

MemorY said it best.....if you wish to hide your IP.....use a different server. In the US, that is easy to do. Simply buy a prepaid ISP disc, and use the 800 number option. Set up a bogas e-mail account with hotmail, yahoo, excite, or one of the many others.....and no one will, or can know who you are. Unless you tell them.
Don't understand why anyone would want to though, myself.

Im just going to assume that you have no malicious intent ..But If you plan on doing spamming runs , forget it , it's stupid and illegal . But this is a site where you learn things , so the thing to do to send mail from a different ip would be to first find a wingate , then telnet to a mail server and send it through there. But something like that is probably illegal , so don't bother. And by the way , don't rely on 'progs' to do all the work for you , setup a linux box with a mail server and learn how to use smtp or something.

He asked how to mask his IP... prepaid ISP disc or not, it'll still show your IP :/
Both Hotmail and Yahoo *do* show IP-numbers.
People won't know who you are (unless your ISP tells them), but they *will* get your IP...

It will show 'A' IP, but not one that is in any way connected to you. The pre-paid ISP's do not even have your name and or any information on you. It will show you are in Il. somewhere (the location of the 800# server). Anyone can buy them, and all you need then is a telephone and a computer.
With, a bogas hotmail account, you then could send anything you wish, with out anyone ever connecting you to what has been sent.
Personally, I can not even imagine what anyone would need that type of camo. for that was not of malicious intent. It would be the same as posting a letter, from a town miles from you with out a return address.

You could use an anonymus mail server combined with a proxy server. But like said before, if someone wants to track you, they will, even if you use the above.
So to answer your question, I think you can't hide your IP.
The only way to hide your IP is to not use it (now that's a tip, isn't it ).
There are 10 kinds of people, those who can read binary, and those who can\'t.
