format the computer. get a win 98 boot disk, run fdisk and format. I think thats gonna be the simplest way. I mean youll be starting from scratch but hey, I should fix the problem.

Hmmm....THis is very interesting. I am not an expert or anything , but I heard that when things like that happen its good to have a back disk. And just reformat. If all fails im sure that like a last option.
Right?

TidaLphasE23,
Ok this is not funny... How many bloody threads are you going to start for this one problem?
Delete a couple and stick to ONE and only ONE.. and when you have a different problem THEN start another thread..
Learn where the REPLY Button is at the bottom of the Page..
Or Just change your Nick to either ShotGun or Lightning
Just what the heck are you trying to do here..
A Clean Install of the OS or a warm install?
If you have given up on the Cleanup of the Backdoor..
Insert the WINXP CD..In your PRimary (Master) Optical Drive (CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/CD-RW/DVD+R-RW/-R-RW whatever)
Hit the RESET button..(If ya don't have one of those.. Hold the power button for 6 to 10 seconds... that is a power off for most ATX systems.... then hit the power button again.)
When the display asks "Hit any key to Boot from CD.." hit a key any key .. it not a lottery.. just pick one at random.. you have only a few seconds... so don't pussy around..
Follow the promts to Install the operating system.. BUT..
When You are asked Where to Install the OS... Opt to REmove/Delete the existing Partition.. once done .. now create the partition.... And now install the OS...
Now if Your CD will not selfBoot, you have one of 2 problems one is your BIOS boot order is not set to look at the CD-ROM b4 the HDD, or it don't support Booting from CD..
OR two.. Your WINXP CD is a Bloody Poor Copy.. throw it in the bin and buy a legal copy..
Cheers

The Solution
Try the following.
Go to www.downloads.com and get the latest f-prot.
goto run and type msconfig.
Set the machine for a safe boot to command prompt on next load.
Copy Fprot into a directory and reeboot.
At the command prompt goto the directory and type f-prot
Run the program with search inside archives.
The problem with alot of virii programs that install as services etc is that windows autobacks them up and when you delete the executable rather than some clever viral code to put it back windows does it all by its self.(Well done M$)
Now insert your XP CD and reeboot.
When the setup screen appears select the recovery option and re-install.
This should re-install and recover any vital windows components to allow for safe recovery of your system without a complete format.

BTW: when removing virii.. disable "System Restore" before removing.. be amazed at the number of times Virii have returned from the dead as a result of that step being missed..
Perhaps you can thak the ppl who have posted in these other threads as well.... I edited in the Flame AFTER posting the original Help 4 u..

I will reflect your appreciation to the others who have posted help info for you here..
..
We all learn by asking as we also learn from helping.. make mistakes and learn.. watch someone else make a mistake, chuckle - "thank god it was him", and learn from their mistake.
Cheers
