Freeware discussion forums/boards

My group here at work has been looking for a quick way to install some kind of discussion forums/boards to discuss work issues. Since we are located in many different worldwide locations, we are looking for something web-based.

Does anyone have suggestions on products that are out there? Freeware would be preferred (since we are cost-cutting), but otherwise, something not too expensive would be an option as well.
