Upgrading my rig, Need help :(
Thanks to anyone who actually volunteers their time to offer some advice.
Right now I have:
Pentium 4 2.53ghz
120gb HD
1gb DDRAM
Sound Blaster Audigy Pro
GeForce4 Ti4600 128mb
I have no clue what my motherboard is :/
My box looks something like
Although mine is custom built.
My plan is to slowly start upgrading parts until the end of the year. I plan to first change the case along with a new motherboard, then the processor, RAM, and finally a new gfx card when needed.
My question is this. I plan to buy this case . With that case, what do you recommend as a new motherboard? Will all the parts fit well in that case, or should i get one set up differently. Anything from xoxide.com really.
I don't want to go out, buy a new case, a random motherboard, and burn my cash in smoke.
Thanks again.

That is a very nice case! You can get it cheaper here http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...p?sku=T925-2004 .
As for the motherboard with a Pentium 4 2.53ghz I will always get a much better motherboard then the CPU (E.X: with 2.53 GHz I will get 2.60/or even jump to 3.0 GHz motherboard, why? So if you want to upgrade in the future you are able to). If you want the best computer on the block go for http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...p?sku=W451-1020 or you can go for http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...?sku=S450-2121.
As for the memory, I would get 512 DDR 2100 or 2700. Here http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...ku=TC1-DDR-512 or here http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...p?sku=U10-3904
For a CPU I think your fine in that field but if you want faster go for 2.8 GHz or 3.06 GHz.

I take it you love tigerdirect doodz. lol
They do have cheap prices but I have had probelms with them and have quit using them.
Thats the same exacty case I have excepty mines silver instead of black. But it does everything that one does. If you order it from pcprogress it's $30 cheaper to. http://pcprogress.com/product.asp?or...7&PID=TTV1000A
http://www.pricewatch.com ----- YOu can search for the chepest products here.
http://www.tcwo.com
http://www.pcprogress.com are two places I use.
As far as things fitting in there it shouldn't be a problem. If you upgrade the mobo they will send a new panel to put in the back. By panel I mean where you plug your printer, mouse, keyboard ect. You should have enough room in there for anything yo want to put in it. Trust me, its a big case.
My suggestion for a motherboard would be something by ASUS, or Gigabit.
Heres my motherboard. http://usa.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=...eluxe&langs=09
Good luck on your computer.

another great site for computer parts is newegg.com. i bought my parts for my rig there, and also buy some of that corsair ram, the xms series, great stuff, if u have overclocking in mind. aslo if u plan to buy more case fans instead of something like a water cooled system then u might also want to invest in a fan controller. its a simple rheostat, that controls the voltage to the case fans.

Head over to www.belarc.com and download the free "Belarc Advisor" and find out everything you need to know about your system...including what kind of M/B you have.
Al
It isn't paranoia when you KNOW they're out to get you...

Am i the only person to notice that dudez attackin suggested this guy cut his ram in half in order to upgrade it?
Not to be a jerk but do you really need to upgrade this system? seems pretty suffecient to me. I could be wrong its just a matter of opinion. Yhe only thing i would suggest is that when you do get ready for a new video card go with a raedon. I've had fewer problems out of them

H@ll yeah cheyenne1212 I love TigerDirect .
Hrmm ZomBieMann77 he wants a new upgrade. As you can see he says that he wants a new CPU (meaning maybe in a new computer)? I wrote that thinking he wants new RAM for the new computer, but then in a upgrade I would get the same speed RAM (2,700, 2,700, etc) upgrade a little more RAM maybe. But really there is no need for that.
"My plan is to slowly start upgrading parts until the end of the year. I plan to first change the case along with a new motherboard, then the processor, RAM, and finally a new gfx card when needed."
Note: Upgrade RAM. "Then the processor, RAM,"
P.S: Damn ZomBieMann77 maybe you really do hate me (spoting me out like that) . But its ok .

Just to add on to what allen has recommended, there is also another program very similar to belarc, and it's called aida32. They say it's like belarc on steriods. I personally use them both.
Here is the link: http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32
For those of you who have'nt tried this one, i would definately give it a look. It lives up to the hype.
