You are fairly new around here, but I'm sure you've seen it before. USE GOOGLE.
It took me 1 minute to find this site on VPNs. Read the FAQ on the site.

Good luck!

VPN= VIrtual Private Network.
An Internet-based virtual private network (VPN) uses the open, distributed infrastructure of the Internet to transmit data between corporate sites.
Source. http://www.iec.org/online/tutorials/vpn/ Go to that website. They have a whole tutorial on VPN's. YOu migh also try searching the tutorials here at AO.
In other words its a way to access you network if your halfway across the country.
btw: Google has all the answers. Always Search Google.

I would not trust any info from a VPN vendor, they might "accidentally" "forget" about any free of charge, open source or other vendors (possibly bundled) VPN solutions.
I.e. their guide will be a 100% complete VPN guide as long as you only want to use their kit.

Agreed. Though I know that they discuss what a VPN is on the site. For what he wants to know, it should be more than sufficient.

Here's one for those who are Google challenged or for people who are intimidated by a blank box.

Mankind have a great aversion to intellectual labor; but even supposing knowledge to be easily attainable, more people would be content to be ignorant than would take even a little trouble to acquire it.
