Heads up for my Life virus

Didn't find any posts yet on this virus (maybe didn't search correct)

But anyways there's an virus active called W32.MYLIFE

Subjects like Julia Roberts and Old Shakira ...

As there is no DAT-fie for Mcafee yet (there on 4275 and we need 4276)
    I thought of posting this.

It is still a low-profile virus but I think ..looking at the infection here in my firm
    that it's gonna change anyday

Here's the link to Mcafee site Mylife

Cleaning tool from Symantec Removal tool

As usual Mcafee runs a bit behind

Hope this is some useful info .. if allready posted Sorry

    Wink MY LIFE

    Hey all!

This link is to an article regarding A 'My Life' virus. It's fairly old (2002) but the one that you mentioned may be a variation of the one in the article.

You can find the story here

Not a great deal of info but gives a general idea.

    Hope it helps.

    LOL,

Guy who sent this one out was great at coding. I just got one in and this guy blatantly ain't a script kiddie.

He wants to read up on his social engineering techniques though.

Being boastfull about having julia roberts pictures. Come on. Would anyone be intrested even if they thought it was real.

He also worded the e-mail exactly like a hoax virus message and it sticks out like a sore thumb in the inbox due to the long file name with .scr at the end.

If these guys spent as much time socialising as they did thinking of new whack ass code to mass mail they would probably get on better.

But not while the nice people at AO and other security news groups are out there protecting the innocent.

Boy, Do any it users know the crap we have to do daily to insure a nice safe network.

Tell me about it - most of the time, I'm just hearing "Hey, my printer won't print" or "Get over here and fix this" - never a thanks, never an acknowledgement of all the work we do behind the scenes, etc. But such is life, that's the way it is.

I just saw an alert scroll across the ticker on TechLive about this virus. Just same general stuff, but it made TechTV. It said W32.MYLIFE something about Julia Roberts, or other celebrities, screen saver .scr format, potential of wipinig out hard drive. So it's out there, and showing it's big ugly face to the world.

    Isn't it a waste....

    IMHO

Some of the best coders in the world dedicate their talent to coding these nasties. A lot of viruses are fairly basic in logical terms, but a large majority of them are intricate and very complicated in design.

It seems to me that these people waste a brilliant mind on such a futile task. If only they would dedicate it to an environment, such as Antionline, they would benefit both themselves and enrich other peoples understanding.

    In a positive way.

Now guys thanks for the support and all but this was just a warning for a virus

... I can see I'm definetly not the only sys admin who feels this way about "certain customers"

We do this job because we are good at it and we take the sh*t from the difficult people ... but once in a while .. very very little we get some recognition .. but I can count these occasions on 1 hand though

We are the few , the proud , for we are pilgrims sir
