Porn Vigilante 'Deepsy' Extorts Web Sites

A hacker turned cyber-vigilante has some personal vendetta against the porn industry I guess.

Going by the nickname "Deepsy" he has been blackmailing and extorting porn site administrators. If they don't pay- he initiates a denial of service attack and takes down their web site.

Here is the article in Wired: Porn Purveyors Getting Squeezed

    Ya gotta love this quote:

"It's hard for the adult industries to go to the authorities," he said. "Try going to the FBI computer crimes division and saying you run analsex.com."

i personally think that the extortion part is bad, but i completely think that the porn industry should be cut off, especially their presence on the internet.
i\'m starting to think that i\'m bound to always be the first guy on the second page of the thread.

Well, just playing devil's advocate here for a second- the porn industry has contributed a lot to the Internet.

It was the "need" for getting porn downloaded faster across dial-up connections which drove a lot of development into graphic file compression and streaming audio / video.

If it weren't for the porn and gaming industries we might still all be using 14.4 modems and waiting 3 minutes for each page to load.

Also, with the exception of the porn spam, I don't see why the porn sites should go away. People who are so inclined visit the sites and spend their money to see what they want to see (although so much is free I don't know who is actually spending money for it- but that is a whole separate issue).

I don't like country music, but I don't think that country music web sites should be DoS'd out of existence (or do I? maybe we have something there ). I simply choose not to visit those sites.

I tend to favor individual censorship instead of wholesale, sanctioned censorship- if you don't like the message, change the channel- but don't try to get the channel banned from existence.

I see nothing wrong with legitimate porn sites. Those guys are just trying to eat and cover their rent nut like the rest of us & maybe make some extra as well.

    But...

Any server hosting kiddie porn should be Dos'ed off the net repeatedly...

I totally agree with tonybradley on the second posting. The only problem I have with is with porn spam. Who will volunteer his/her time to go after those porn spammers?

Tony always has a point about these sorts of things. But I still must say that it's just funny in general to see someone go after porn sites like this. Maybe they ripped him off or something and this is his payback? (j/k)

But on the flip side, if it wasn't for hackers going crazy like this we also wouldn't have ways of figuring out how to tighten our security measures. So out of the bad always does come good.

I just things don't go to "Deepsy" head and he starts going after big corporations. I mean I'm against the whole blackmail or die thing, but it's porn sites so you have to admit it is funny!

"Deepsy should be worried for his life," he wrote in an e-mail. "Some of these Internet players would kill over matters like this."
"I'll gladly have someone take care of things," a GFYer replied. "****ing blackmailing shitface must die."
What is this, the Internet mofia talking?

    Just my remarks...

If the guy was going after kidde porn sites I would have no problem with this, I also would have no problem if he went ater spamming sites. But lagit websites that happen to host porn, Deepsy is a commen criminal and needs to be put in jail for extortion.

lets face it folks this guy isn't blackmailing the sites because of some moral imparitive hes going after the group that has the money.
Who is more trustworthy then all of the gurus or Buddha’s?

The extensive free pornographic content available on the net is.... well.... slightly distrubing.

Now, don't get me wrong, I like p0rn just as much as the next 21 y.o male and don't want to seem like a prude, however, if I had children, I wouldn't want, say, a 12/13/14 year old who is starting to wake up to the idea of sex and nudity (in a sexual way) to be able to access some of the stuff that I've seen with absolutely NO CREDIT CARD or any other form of age verification.

Sure, it should be available to those who wish to view it, but how do you reduce the risk of minors coming into contact with it? It's a hard issue.... (no pun intended )

I agree with Tony in the sense that if you don't like it, don't view it. Simple.
