I'll risk sounding stupid but what's a V.N.?
What exactly do you want? You want to transfer files from one computer to another?
Are these computers close to eachother? Or are they at different locations?
Do both have Internet access?

Is this like a VPN without the Private part? (No dick jokes, please)
I mean, I have no idea about VPN's anyhow, but it seems probable that this is what your asking...maybe.....huh?

Did you come up with that yourself? A VN is a virtual network that exists over the internet. The internet is a network itself. What you may or may not be looking for would be VPN Virtual Private network. You can use ftp without having this by just setting an ftp server on one machine and ftp client on the other and setting up a user account ie. username and passwd. You can also use something like VNC http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/ for Virtual Network Computing. I don't know what exactly you are looking for though. I am afraid with the info you have given that is the most I can give you for now.

Ultravnc has file transfer
http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/
you could also just download an ftp server and install which you could find with a google search.
