    ftp server, symlinks and permissions

    helloo everyone...

i have installed a FTP server using vsftpd.......as it relies mostly on permissions

i am facing a lili prob here .......

i created a folder in /home durectory and changed its permissions to 755....i created a symlink for this in the /var/ftp directory....
so that anonymous users can access this folder...

the prob i cant change to this directory...when logged in as anonymous on FTP...

anything i am missing here ????

just went tinkering with vsftpd to get this thing working....but i messed up things to a greater extent now i am unable to connect to my FTP server it says...

500 OOPS: vsftpd: cannot locate user specified in 'tunable_ftp_username'
    Connection closed by remote host.

in all the configuration related files of vsftpd like ( vsftpd.conf or ftpusers) nothing called
    'tunable_ftp_username' exists

    pls help
