Yep its back now.
It was completely out for about 4 minutes.
I tried 5 isps and none could reack it and I couldn't ping it either.
Strange eh ?
Did you try it in time tampa ?

thats odd, that you couldn't ping it... if you got a socket error, then the server should've been up^ i'd imagine - if it was un-ping-able then you would have gottn' a different err0r...
yeah, I\'m gonna need that by friday...

ignore my pingy error message. I can't ping it now its back up either.

When it was down did you do a traceroute to see where it stopped? Perhaps network outage? ( http://www.internettrafficreport.com )

Will try it next time mittens but I dialed in on 5 different accounts to make sure it wasn't my end.

Most large sites do not return pings, they consider security just like we do Try hotmail and some others some time like Amazon, Microsoft etc.
Not a damn thing and it's been that way since firewalls got beyond the laboratories.

Hi Mark,
Probably a totally stupid post, but I have had the same problems as you in the UK. I put it down to the telephone link, not google, but I may well be wrong. I find it often happens after heavy rain ('phones don't like water) or when there is excess traffic and you cannot connect at full speed (I use a 56.6)
Other stuff seems to misbehave as well, hence my pointing a finger at the telcos.
As I said......probably wrong as usual, but I have come across it.
