syphon, well I'm not to sure about Windows (only because i can't afford a decent firewall) but i like Sygate... for linux i like using IPTABLES, really i just run config scripts that help me build the IPTABLES rules...

I would say smoothwall for linux http://www.smoothwall.org/
Zonealarm for windows www.zonealarm.com
or you could just buy a router
Antivirus for linux http://www.centralcommand.com/index.html and this one http://www.linuxberg.at/antivirus.html

My guess is that your mean the best for a reasonable price? With that in mind, either the Linksys or the Dlink. They're both reasonably priced and easy to configure. They don't get as granular are the big cisco gear but, they'll do the job. If money is no object and you have a lot of users, Cisco is the way to go.

I'm just running the firewall for my computer, it's not connected to or through a network. But thanks for the suggestion.

Alot of firewalls free ones and paid ones are good as long as you have them configure right
Just adding my 2cents
I had to google 'jfgi' to see what it meant. The irony is overwhelming.
