    Ports

Ok, I know there was a post about ports on here a few weeks back, but i can't seem to find it. So if anyone can give me a good link to a site or a Post, where i can learn Ports and their functions, that would be great.

    Thanks.

Quitmzilla is a firefox extension that gives you stats on how long you have quit smoking, how much money you\'ve saved, how much you haven\'t smoked and recent milestones. Very helpful for people who quit smoking and used to smoke at their computers... Helps out with the urges.

This should help ya out although keep in mind that trojans, virii and worms can easily bind to any of the legitimate ports in this list. I'll give you a trojan port lookup link just for good measure.

Try this one too: http://www.glocksoft.com/trojan_port.htm <--- It has a list of Trojan's that affect certain ports with detailed information. The site seems to be down for the moment but once its up again it has very useful information. You could also download a multithread Network diagnostic tool called Advanced Administrative Tools. You can download only a trial version though but its fully operational.

The worm spreads via port 135, and some security advisories have recommended shutting off port 135 at the network perimeter. However, many say that's not an advisable approach inside the network if an infection breaks out.

Perhaps you are referring to the tut I wrote a few weeks back???

If so then it's in the tutorials forum with all the other ones, there are also a lot of other handy tuts that other people have written that go along with what your talking about.

    Hope this helps...

The worm also may spread through/effect ports TCP 4444 and UDP 69 i believe though i am not sure about that.
