    recovery of password

Sorry if I've sent this to the wrong place, already sent one message but had no replies so far.
Have a Compaq Armada 1750 (I know but it's a work laptop!) - been set up so first screen is password - which I have forgotten and work have lost their master password etc. It's used mostly with package called Case Catalyst but can't access anything. Is there any way to get into the computer at all? Desparately need help from someone. Also has Gant 1.1R System Validation Copyright (c) Protection Systems Ltd 1997-2000. Any ideas most appreciated

Bring it to a certified Compaq repaircentre, show proof of purchase and they will remove the BIOS password for you.

Two threads appearing on the main page, two users mention the words "master password"... assumeing you mean the bios. Except this time its on a Compaq Armada 1750? I beleave someone may be hideing something. Lucy, you got some explaining to do!

So like which airport did you steal these computers from?

Are you the same guy on the other thread or are you two related & you both share the same stupid-gene?

Is the whole world geting more & more dumb at a even faster rate than ever before and all hopes for a better WWW is lost?

Oh let me guess... everyone is here for your amusement & you find computer geeks to be sexy so you come up with some lame PC related problems, wait for one of us to come by, look at PC jargon & avatars all day, then get sex jollies off of it all, right? Oh no... mom & dad help! The weird smelly old man in a dress tried to make me fix his computer!

Haven't a clue what "the specialist" is talking about. This is a genuine request for any help from computer specialists - and yes I may have a "dumb gene" when it comes to IT. Is that the best sort of advice I can get on this web site?!

You're getting an attitude because no one will help you crack a password? Are you kidding?
If it's a "work laptop" like you claim, don't you use it daily? now suddenly you forgot the BIOS password? Plus, on top of everything else.... you don't even know what kind of password it is? At least you know how to use AOL.
I hate this place, nothing works here, I\'ve been here for 7 years, the medication does\'nt work...

    Sarah,

If anyone at your place has any idea..........please get them to take a screwdriver to the back and do a BIOS reset via the jumper switch.

Otherwise, get them to buy you a new box........if you REALLY need one they will do this...........or sort it for you?

Guess you are getting a negative response because you are not getting positive support where you are..............we find that kind of hard to understand or believe.

If you have no objections to me running a "make" through C1...........PM your personal details, and the serial numbers on the box, then I will give you the info. that you require.......otherwise we will assume that the box is stolen ?

    P.S. C1 = Scotland Yard "criminal intellligence"

You may be genuine.......we are usually careful.....?

Try www.security-forums.com they are more polite and helpful than here.

    Lumpy...

I disagree with that!...I think that this site is very helpful to all people, whatever their mother language is.

In this case I believe that there is a genuine question as to the veracity of the post....

I have answered that...if she will give me the serial nos and details I will run them through the "mill" so to speak.

I know that she will not..............

    cheers
