    Might be you CD-ROM going bad. Do you have another CD-ROM laying aroudn somewhere to stick in there.? You might try that.

    btw: Have you tried both of your CD-ROMS

    That's a fairly generic error. Could be a multitude of things but the three main ones I can think of are the bus, the drive, possibly the cable. Try replacing the cable first, then the drive, then if it's still happens, the mobo. I neveer did like Gateways.

    How's that for a shotgun method of troubleshooting?
