Breaking the Speed Barrier: The Frontside Bus Bottleneck

Processors continue to get faster and faster, but the frontside bus (FSB) remains one of the biggest bottlenecks on system performance. Most major manufacturers, including Intel, Motorola and AMD, are trying to develop methods to sidestep FSB limitations.

It's about time they pay more attention to the FSB.

A system is only as fast as its FSB speed and memory speed. But how much faster can they make the FSB? It would be interesting to see what they come up with to speed up the FSB. Making the lines smaller isn't going to cut it for much longer cause that's just more heat introduced into the system.

I can't wait to see what they come up with.
