    Email for Kids

I have two computers for use only by the kids. They have instant messenger clients on them, but I also have Zone Labs IMSecure to protect the client and Ihave a web content filter, eBlaster and VNC installed so I can monitor all activity on the machines.

I would like to set up email for them, but I don't think they should get 20 emails a day for Viagra, low mortgage rates or how to increase penis size. Does anyone know of an email client- cheap or free- that will let you work on a white-list only basis?

In other words, I want ALL incoming mail blacklisted by default, and only the one or two email addresses I specify on the whitelist will be allowed through.

    Any ideas?

well, i dont know if this is really what you are looking for, but on hotmail, you can specify the junk mail filter to the level where they only get mail from people on their contacts list, and all other mail goes in to their Junk mail folder, and will be deleted later. Actually, i think you can have all mail that goes to the junk mail folder immedietly deleted. Hope i helped a little.
\"Look, Doc, I spent last Tuesday watching fibers on my carpet. And the whole time I was watching my carpet, I was worrying that I, I might vomit. And the whole time, I was thinking, \"I\'m a grown man. I should know what goes on my head.\" And the more I thought about it... the more I realized that I should just blow my brains out and end it all. But then I thought, well, if I thought more about blowing my brains out... I start worrying about what that was going to do to my goddamn carpet. Okay, so, ah-he, that was a GOOD day, Doc. And, and I just want you to give me some pills and let me get on with my life. \" -Roy Waller

I have. First they sell your email address because I have set up accounts that I tell noone about and they still get email about penis enlargement.

Words like Penis will get blocked, but P E N I S will not. Hotmail still hasnt figured it out.

Well, hotmail has done something recently because I used to get 100 messages a day (of a variety of psychic, penis enlarger, low-rate mortgage, 3 way sex types) and now it's trickled to maybe 20 a week. Weird..

That said, any of this useful Tony? or do you need more ideas?

    Tony,

It's nor free but it is cheap and very versatile. You could get web hosting for like $7 a month that will allow you to do all kinds of filtering and even set up dummy accounts to dump all the crap to so you can deal with it later. Then depending on your mail client you can set up some of the freeware like JunkMuncher to take it a step further during download.

In short you can set up an account, then have that acount forwarded to a second account on your web space. When the first account get too much bad E-mail, just change the one that forwards to it.

I'll be back shortly with some links and I'll edit this post. Just wanted to get the idea out there for now.
